Title Let's Meditate
October 12, 2015 - 4:00pm
Big Red Barn ((in the Greenhouse to the back of the BRB))
The semester is just beginning and we are all busy for sure. It's so easy to think, "I don't have time to meditate." But now, more than ever, is a great time to meditate. In life's paradoxical way, when we spend time meditating on a regular basis, we actually have more time. People who meditate notice they are able to accomplish more while doing less. Instead of struggling so hard to achieve goals, they seem to spend more time 'in the flow'. Attention, focus, and concentration improve, stress is reduced, and there's a calmer productivity. Take a break and join us Mondays at 4:00pm for a FREE 30-minute guided mindfulness meditation session in The Big Red Barn.

Join in for a CU-CIRTL-sponsored discussion of Chapter 4: Teaching and Surviving, from Therese Huston's useful book Teaching What You Don't Know. For a copy of the book or to RSVP, contact email@example.com Your graduate work was on bacterial evolution, but now you’re lecturing to 200 freshmen on primate social life. Everyone in academia knows it and no one likes to admit it: faculty often have to teach courses in areas they don’t know very well. The challenges are even greater when students don’t share your cultural background, lifestyle, or assumptions about how to behave in a classroom. In this practical and funny book, experienced teaching consultant Therese Huston offers creative strategies for dealing with typical problems. Join us for an exciting and informative discussion series sponsored by CU-CIRTL! See Also Teaching What You Don't Know Book Discussion Schedule
