Navigating Your Future/ BEST Careers in...Science Policy
Rocco Casagrande, Cornell alumnus (did research in Tim Huffaker's lab) will speak on science policy and its role in government. He has served as a BEST mentor for a trainee BESTernship at Gryphon Scientific in Bethesda, MD who worked on the Gain of Function Report. Their work led to recommendations on guidance released just yesterday on a review process for risky virus studies. This event is part of “Navigating Your Future: BEST Careers in…” in cooperation with OISE and the Graduate School.

About the speaker: Rocco Casagrande established himself as an expert by writing articles for Scientific American and became one of 10 UN weapons inspectors in Iraq before the war. He is now managing director of Gryphon Scientific, a small consulting company in the physical and life sciences as well as public health, economics and management. See his NYT interview here.
