Are there any updates on the unionization vote that took place last spring?

Question

Hello,

I was wondering if there are any updates on the unionization vote that took place last spring? I was under the impression that the election would decide things one way or the other, but I never heard the final outcome, and it sounds like CGSU is still campaigning…?

With thanks,

Curious PhD Candidate

Response

Dear Curious PhD Candidate:

Thank you for your Ask a Dean question.

You’ll find a current report about the status of unionization at the Union Representation resource page on the Graduate School web page, and details under the Union Representation FAQ. As noted in those resources, CGSU/AFT/NYSUT retains the right to seek a future election whether the March ’17 election remains unresolved or if it is formally determined that the majority of graduate students voted against unionization.

Please let me know if you have other questions. Thanks for your interest.

Warm regards,

Barb
