Can I continue using my gym pass post-graduation?

Date: June 2019

Question

Hi, Deans,

I am a Cornell graduate student who just graduated. I have a question about my gym pass. I purchased a one-year pass to the Cornell gyms last August, but I am aware that graduated students typically lose gym access once their Cornell ID cards are deactivated. However, I don’t leave Ithaca to start my new job until the end of July.

I am wondering, given that I paid for a full-year gym pass, if there is any way I can continue to access Cornell’s gyms until the end of July? Thank you.

Response

Dear Fitness-focused New Alum,

Thanks for your question, and your interest in keeping active in Cornell’s fitness centers (CFC) this summer. And congratulations on your graduation!

Graduate students who purchased a one-year pass (expiring in August ’19) will still have access to the fitness centers over the summer. If your ID card has been deactivated, for the CFC pass you will need to go to 319 Helen Newman Hall to have your ID number re-activated in the CFC system. The office is open from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (lunch hour when the office is closed is 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and open through lunch on Wednesday).

Have fun exercising, and best wishes in your new job!

Warm regards,

Barb
