Question

Dear Deans,

I can’t seem to find this information somewhere, but it must exist! Does Cornell University have a recording studio where students can go and record interviews or other audio?

Sincerely,

Perplexed

Response

Dear Perplexed,

Thanks very much for your Ask a Dean question. I consulted with Glen Palmer, the director of Cornell Broadcast Studios. He was very helpful providing information. He also indicated that he would be happy to help you with any other related questions you may have.

Mr. Palmer indicated that his unit offers consultation services to campus colleagues, including graduate students, to help develop their ideas and program concepts and learn the basic skills of technical production and industry best practices. However, they do not offer the use of their facilities or staff time for production of course-based or personal projects.

He suggested that you check into the resources of the Center for Teaching Innovation Tech Lab and also the resources and staff insights available through Mann Library’s multimedia and instructional technology resources. He indicated these units maintain facilities specifically designed to assist students with their general media production needs.

I hope this information helps point you in a useful direction.

Warm regards,

Barb
