Is there a campus fellowship advisor who can answer questions and read my essays?

Date: September 2018

Question

Good afternoon,

I am a graduate student preparing myself to apply for a fellowship and I was wondering if the university has a campus fellowship advisor that perhaps can answer some queries and read my essays. If this exists, could you please tell me who would the best person/department for me to reach out to?

Thank you!

Response

Dear Aspiring Fellowship Applicant,

Thank you for your question about writing a competitive graduate fellowship application. I’m very glad you plan to apply for external awards!

The Graduate School does not have a fellowship office, but we do organize and host various fellowship support activities for graduate students. In September alone we are offering 40 hours of workshops and review sessions, listed below. Plan to attend one of the workshops or some of the review and consultation hours (there are eight days for writing, review, and consultation) to get answers to your questions and to get feedback on your essays. You can also sign up for weekly fellowship tips, strategies, and encouragement. I hope to meet you at one of these events!

Best,

Jan
