DESCRIPTION:The Graduate School will hold a private hooding reception for new Ph.D. graduates at G10 Biotech immediately prior to the December 18 Recognition ceremony. Ph.D. graduates are invited to attend this ceremonial hooding\, in which a faculty member places the hood over the shoulders of the graduate to signify their success in completing their graduate program.  \nDean Boor will perform the hooding of our new graduates. Alternatively\, graduates may invite their advisors or committee members to attend and perform the hooding. \nGraduates should wear their appropriate cap\, gown\, and hood. DESCRIPTION:The Annual Graduate Diversity and Inclusion Renaissance Ball is an effort of the graduate student organizations represented on the Graduate and Professional Student Diversity Council. This event brings together graduate and professional students for a night of live music\, great food\, dancing\, and community. Founded by the Black Graduate and Professional Student Association (BGPSA) in 2011\, the Renaissance Ball\, which is named in honor of the Harlem Renaissance\, celebrates the diversity of the Cornell graduate community and promotes the inclusion of all of its members.

SUMMARY:Multicultural Academic Council (MAC) Winter Social
DESCRIPTION:The MAC (Multicultural Academic Council) Mentoring Program is a collaboration of MAC and the Graduate School Office of Inclusion and Student Engagement (OISE). \nMAC is a graduate student organization focused on ensuring that doctoral students\, especially from those backgrounds historically underrepresented in academia\, can connect with peer mentors and develop positive strategies for excelling academically and personally throughout their graduate career and beyond. \nPeer Mentors: MAC invites doctoral students going into their third year or beyond and postdoctoral fellows/associates to apply to serve as peer mentors to support the success and professional development of first-year doctoral students. \nMentees: MAC invites first- and second-year doctoral students to apply to participate in the MAC Mentoring Program as mentees\, which brings senior graduate students and postdocs together with beginning graduate students for monthly discussion sessions focused on common issues faced by early career graduate students. \nThe MAC Mentoring Program runs on a late September through late March schedule. \nThis event brings together graduate and professional students for a night of music\, great food\, dancing\, and community!
