The mission of the Inclusive Teaching Institute for Graduate Students and Postdocs at Cornell is to:

  • Bring aspiring educators together to engage proactively in complex discussions about aspects of diversity at Cornell and beyond.
  • Support early career academics and professionals in incorporating inclusive teaching practices into their classrooms.
  • Nurture a peer network that can serve as a resource on matters of diversity in higher education.

By participating in the Inclusive Teaching Institute, participants will:

  • Increase awareness of various aspects of diversity and identity through readings, activities, and facilitated discussion.
  • Integrate those understandings into their syllabi, teaching practices and philosophies.
  • Become a part of a network of graduate students and postdocs dedicated to inclusive teaching methods, which will reconnect throughout the year at dinners and events to discuss progress made in implementing these methods.
