- This event has passed.
On behalf of the Graduate and Professional Student Diversity Council, and in collaboration with the Graduate School Office of Inclusion and Student Engagement, we invite all members of the Cornell community to join us for a community candlelight vigil for those we have lost to gun violence.
Date: Tuesday, May 31
Time: 7:30pm
Location: Mann Library Patio, Ag Quad
Our communities have suffered horrific gun violence in recent weeks leading to an accumulation of grief, trauma, and many other emotions. As part of our collective processing of these experiences, the GPS-DC invites all members of the Cornell community to a candlelight vigil to mourn the lives of those recently taken by gun violence in Buffalo, Laguna Woods, and Uvalde, as well as everyone else we have lost to gun violence.
Many of us are having trouble grieving the enormity of these deaths and the bigotry that underlies gun violence, as it ties into so many different issues that impact our lives. We hope to provide a space to collectively grieve, share compassion, miss people, and partake in the cultural practices that bring us comfort.
This event is also supported by the Department of Inclusion and Belonging.
