Purpose, Leadership, and Humanities Panel

What can leadership look like for humanities PhDs beyond the traditional academic path? Join Daniella Sarnoff and Julianne Gilland for a conversation about building purposeful careers, taking on leadership roles, and bringing humanistic perspectives to work in cultural, global, and mission-driven organizations. Panelists will share how their doctoral training has shaped their careers, leadership approaches, and contributions beyond the academy.

Daniella Sarnoff, PhD | Director, Global Scholars and Fellowships at Columbia Global

Daniella joined Columbia World Project in July 2022 after over a decade at the Social Science Research Council (SSRC), directing the International Dissertation Research Fellowship Program, as well as other programs supporting scholars in the humanities and social sciences. Daniella holds a PhD in European history and works on extremist politics in interwar France. Before her work at the SSRC she taught history at Xavier University, Fordham University, and New York University. She has published in journals and in edited volumes on the topics of French fascism, women’s suffrage, and gender and fascism.
