Motivation During Crisis

April 15, 2020 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

  • This event has passed.

We know that maintaining motivation for graduate students can be a struggle at times.  This is especially true in times of crisis.  And, right now, given all of the changes, threats to security and personal health, emotional toll of anxiety and social isolation, and just outside influences, it is common for students to experience difficulties in keeping motivation levels high as it once was.

The goal of this session is to create a shared space for graduate students to learn more about (lack of) motivation, especially in the time of crisis, and to learn some tools and strategies about how to regain some motivation, balance, and show compassion towards oneself.  Finally, suggestions will be offered about how to get unstuck, grow through challenges, and maintain engagement.  Half of the session will be hearing from a content expert, the second half of the session is designed to have facilitated conversation about the material.  Come to one or both sessions (material presented will be different).

Speaker – Travis F. Winter, LCSW-R, Cornell Health Counselor/Therapist
