NCFDD: Managing Chronic Illness and Academic Life

January 28, 2020 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

  • This event has passed.

Maintaining professional productivity while managing a chronic illness has several particular challenges. At times, the scheduling and culture of the academy actively ignores the needs of the body/mind in its demand for scholarly and professional productivity. Drawing on her scholarship and professional experiences, Therí Pickens will discuss strategies for living and working with chronic illness.

The webinar begins by addressing the common challenges and triumphs of living with a chronic illness. Then, participants learn strategies for how to negotiate the major concerns including those that require more delicate and deft management of ableist structures.
