Building Allyship Series: Helping International Scholars Uncover the Hidden Curriculum

November 12, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

  • This event has passed.

You are invited to join GPSA Diversity and International Students Committee, in collaboration with the Graduate School Office of Inclusion and Student Engagement, Graduate and Professional Student Diversity Council, and CIRTL at Cornell, for the second session of our Building Allyship Series – Helping International Scholars Uncover the Hidden Curriculum.

This session will feature a moderated panel discussion including two international graduate students and two Cornell community members they have identified as allies in helping them uncover the “Hidden Curriculum” involved with navigating Cornell as an international scholar.

This session will provide us with an opportunity to understand the experiences of international scholars coming to a U.S. institution of higher education and what it means to serve as an ally as they are confronted with new institutional landscapes and socio-cultural environments. The organizers of this event include graduate students from Graduate and Professional Students International (GPSI), a student organization that is focused on creating community and mentorship opportunities for the graduate and professional international community.

Interested in participating remotely? Please register at http://bit.ly/IntnlAllyship to obtain Zoom access.

We strive to make our events accessible to all community members.  Individuals who would like to request accessibility accommodations should indicate needs in the registration form and contact al546@cornell.edu with any questions or concerns. We ask that requests be made at least one week in advance to help ensure they can be met.
