Can you refer me to any legal services in Tompkins County?
Date: April 2018
Question
Hello,
I am not certain if you are the correct person to contact, but I am wondering if there are any legal services provided to graduate students at Cornell. Any information would be greatly appreciated!
Best,
Legally-minded Graduate Student
Response
Dear Legally-minded Graduate Student,
Several local resources are available to help you, depending on your need.
- The Tompkins County Bar Association provides a referral service.
- Legal Assistance of Western New York provides free legal aid to people with civil legal problems in Tioga and Tompkins County.
- Cornell Law School has several legal clinics addressing different issues and serving various populations. The current clinics are listed here, in case one of these would address the issue you are working on.
While not required and not a source of legal advice, if you would like to talk through your individual situation, you are welcome to reach out to Janna Lamey, assistant dean for graduate student life at janna.lamey@cornell.edu
Best wishes,
