Graduate Assistantship Position

The Graduate School is offering an opportunity for doctoral students interested in gaining administrative leadership experience in higher education. We are offering a graduate assistantship (GA) or hourly work in Fall 2024 for one graduate student to work with the associate dean for academics, Josephine Martell, on a Cornell-wide project to update graduate field handbooks. The position will also work closely with directors of graduate studies (DGS) in the fields and other graduate students. Students should have strong communication skills, excellent writing skills, a good understanding of policy, and strong relationship building skills. Students will be expected to commit up to 15 hours per week, and a hybrid work schedule is allowed. Funding term is up to one semester initially, with potential for extension. For the GA option, stipend, tuition, and SHP are provided. For the hourly option, the range is between $16-22/hour.

Interested students should send Josephine (jem522@cornell.edu) an email detailing their interest in the project and their qualifications for this work, a CV or resume, and the names and contact information of two references. Preference will be given to Ph.D. students and incomplete applications will not be considered. Students also need to confirm they have not committed to another source of funding for the fall semester. References will not be contacted without prior notification.
